We are excited to join with other indie bookstores in Vermont in celebrating Pride Month with the Vermont Pride Readathon. Hosted by Bear Pond Books in Montpelier, the Vermont Pride Readathon aims to promote LGBTQ+ authors and raise money for Camp Outright, a special Vermont summer camp that gives queer youth freedom to celebrate their identities in a safe, welcoming space.

What do I read?
What you read is up to you! To inspire readers to dive into books by LGBTQ+ authors, we've made a list of recommendations below. You can also check out the list that Bear Pond has created with the help of some favorite authors and community members! This list will grow as more authors and readers contribute. These titles span all genres, all age ranges, and represent a diverse group of voices. Graphic novels, fantasy, romance, memoir, anything goes, as long as it celebrates an LGBTQ+ author’s voice!
Why Camp Outright as the beneficiary of this Pride event?
All kids deserve to have access to safe and inclusive spaces that support their self-discovery and encourage connection. At Camp Outright, campers experience a sense of belonging, where their identity is a superpower - a source of inner strength - that's celebrated, embraced, and powers them through life. Your support ensures that no camper is turned away because of financial need. Also, a local family will match the gifts you raise, up to $20,000. With your help, we can unlock every penny of this match!
Thank you so much for being a part of the 2023 Pride Readathon!
We can't wait to see what you're reading!
